PITT'S COLLEGE OF GENERAL STUDIES NAMES NEW COMMUNITY PROGRAM DIRECTOR
PITTSBURGH, July 25 -- Judith A. Bobenage has been named Director of Community and Continuing Education at the University of Pittsburgh's College of General Studies (CGS), where she will coordinate Pitt's non-credit community education programs.
In the newly created position, Bobenage is responsible for developing a model university center for lifelong learning. She will concentrate first on the Pitt Informal Program and the College For the Over 60, with the goal of expanding them and introducing them to new audiences.
Bobenage also plans to develop and strengthen partnerships with local civic, cultural and arts organizations to provide the community with greater access to the region's rich resources.
"I'm enthused by CGS' commitment to enrich lives and better our community," said Bobenage, who spent the past 20 years running public education programs at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. "I am excited at the prospect of developing learning opportunities that help position the University as a primary source for leisure learning, as well as personal and professional development."
A native of the Johnstown, PA area and a former teacher, Bobenage earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in environmental education from Penn State University.
