PITT "FACE THE FACTS CAMPAIGN" TO BOLSTER ALCOHOL AWARENESS
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 30 -- A "Non-Alcoholic Mix-off," part of a University of Pittsburgh alcohol awareness initiative, will be held Thursday, Sept. 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the Towers dormitory patio, 3955 Forbes Avenue.
Sponsored by Residence Life, the Resident Student Association and Student Health, the event will provide non-alcoholic beverages created by the resident assistants and the Resident Student Association. The drinks will be judged, and Student Health will award prizes and distribute informational brochures about alcohol abuse.
Since Sept. 27, resident students and staff have been wearing black ribbons to signify their knowledge of the potentially negative impact of alcohol. In addition, residence halls have been displaying posters about the consequences of alcohol abuse including poor grades, fights, health risks, drunk driving, sexual assault and accidents.
For more information regarding the "Face the Facts Campaign," call Michele Griffith, resident director, Schenley Quad at 412-648-3918 or Dana Jarvis, graduate resident director, Tower C, at 412-648-1150.
