PITT'S ASIAN STUDIES PROGRAM TO PRESENT THE "ART OF ASIAN CALLIGRAPHY" AT BARNES & NOBLE
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 2 -- The Asian Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh will explore the "Art of Asian Calligraphy" from 12:30 p.m. to
1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Barnes & Noble book store, downtown.
Through information, demonstration and a hands-on session, artist Yoko Gebhard will present the finer points of brush holding, posture and brush and ink preparation, as well as stroke order and methods. Audience members will be given the opportunity to write their names in characters.
The presentation is the next in a monthly series offered at Barnes & Noble by the University of Pittsburgh Center for International Studies, Africana Studies and the African Drum & Dance Ensemble.
The event is free and open to the public. Barnes & Noble is located at
339 Sixth Avenue, entrance on Smithfield Street.
