NATIONAL EXPERT ON WELFARE REFORM TO SPEAK AT PITT
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 18 -- Yeheskel Hasenfeld, noted researcher on the welfare system and its sweeping reforms, will speak on Thursday, Sept. 24 from
6 - 7:30 p.m. in the Ballroom of the University of Pittsburgh William Pitt Union. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Hasenfeld's address "Welfare Reform -- What Lies Ahead?" will examine the current state of this major social policy, the reforms at state and national levels which are dramatically impacting our society, and future implications for public policy.
A professor of social welfare at the UCLA School of Public Policy and Social Research, Hasenfeld is nationally recognized for research and publications on the leading edge of social work. He is co-author of the book "We The Poor People: Work, Poverty and Welfare."
This event is co-sponsored by Pitt's School of Social Work, marking its 60th anniversary this year. One of the oldest schools of its kind in the country, Pitt's School of Social Work has a master's program that is ranked among the top nationally, according to the latest edition of U.S. News and World Report's Best Graduate Schools.
