BUILDING PLANS HIGHLIGHT PITT OPEN HOUSE, SEPT. 12

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 4--The University of Pittsburgh will hold an Open House for Oakland residents, along with its faculty, staff, students and anyone else interested in hearing about its 10-year building plan, from 9 am to

1 pm, Saturday, September 12, in the first-floor Commons Room of the Cathedral of Learning.

"This Open House will provide an opportunity for individuals to see and learn about for themselves the positive renovations and new construction undertaken to prepare Pitt to meet the needs of its students and community well into the next century," said Robert Pack, vice provost for academic planning and resource management.

Available during the Open House will be representatives from departments that include student housing, athletics, facilities management, parking and transportation, public safety, academics and community relations. Additionally, information will be provided on a number of University programs and activities available to Oakland residents, and light refreshments will be served.

"We hope anyone who is interested in the University and how it is positioning itself to stay competitive while contributing to the vibrancy not just of our neighborhood but the Pittsburgh region will visit us at the Open House," said Pack. "It should be a great opportunity for dialogue between University personnel and community residents."
