Pitt's Kuntu Repertory Theatre to Hold Auditions for August Wilson's Seven Guitars

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh's Kuntu Repertory Theatre will hold auditions for August Wilson's Tony Award winning play Seven Guitars on

Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Feb. 27 from 2 to 6 p.m. Auditions will take place in the Seventh-Floor Auditorium of Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland.

Actors selected for the cast will travel to State College, Pa., and perform the play during the August Wilson Play Festival April 27-May 1. That festival will feature a film presentation, full theatrical productions, staged readings, and discussions of Wilson's 10 plays, each depicting the African American experience in a different decade of the 20th century.

Those auditioning should be prepared to present three monologues from August Wilson plays, including Seven Guitars. Singers should be prepared to sing 12 bars of a blues song. Kuntu is looking for a female actor in her 20s, two female actors over 35, and three male actors over 30. Rehearsals for Seven Guitars will begin
