Pitt's International Programming Coordinator Wins TOEFL Partners in Excellence Award
PITTSBURGH—Jamie Rayman, international programming coordinator in the Office of International Services at the University of Pittsburgh, is the winner of the 2004 Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Partners in Excellence Award, sponsored by the Educational Testing Services.
Rayman, of State College, earned the Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Pennsylvania State University in 1999.
Rayman received the award for her International Demonstration Cooking Series, which was cited for its innovative approach to promoting interaction among international students and scholars and international and domestic students, as well as for encouraging international communication in English.
A plaque will be presented to Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg in recognition of the program's selection. In addition, Rayman will present a session about the series at the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers' Association of International Educators Annual Conference.
The TOEFL Partners in Excellence Award is a national award that recognizes international students and faculty who work together to initiate, develop, or improve a program involving international education or international educational exchange at a U.S. postsecondary institution.
