Pitt Book Center to Hold Book Signing with Where the Evidence Leads Author Oct. 23
PITTSBURGH—Former Pennsylvania governor Dick Thornburgh will be signing copies of the book Where the Evidence Leads (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2003) at noon Oct. 23 at the University of Pittsburgh Book Center, 4000 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
In his book, Thornburgh candidly reveals the joys, frustrations, mistakes, and accomplishments of his public service career. He has been a key participant in and observer of American political and legal life for more than three decades. Thornburgh describes how he rose through the Republican ranks, setting out on a course that would ultimately take him to the highest corridors of power in the United States. The book also reveals a playful side of Thornburgh, long known to friends and colleagues but often hidden from the public.
Thornburgh describes himself as a strong proponent of civil rights and racial equality, and a strict adherent to the overriding importance of the rule of law. A 1957 graduate of Pitt's law school and currently a member of the Board of Trustees, Thornburgh presented the University Library System with his personal papers. Chronicling his prestigious career in politics, the collection serves as an invaluable resource for scholars.
The book signing is being sponsored by The Book Center and the University of Pittsburgh Press. Admission is free and open to the public.
