Pitt Film Studies Program Features Free Talk April 5 by Hollywood Film Producer and Pittsburgh Native Bernie Goldmann

PITTSBURGH—Bernie Goldmann, Hollywood film producer, former studio head, and Pittsburgh native, will give a free talk at 4 p.m. April 5 in Room 120 of the University of Pittsburgh's David Lawrence Hall in Oakland. The University's Film Studies Program is sponsoring the event.
A Taylor Alderdice High School graduate, Goldmann returns to Pittsburgh as part of the Pitt Film Studies Program's continuing series of guest lectures linking the University to the Hollywood community. Goldmann will share his experiences and insights on the filmmaking process and give students advice on how to make it in Hollywood.
After graduating from Ithaca College in 1983, Goldmann started as a production assistant for Steve Tisch, who produced "Risky Business" and "Forrest Gump." Goldmann then worked his way up to president of production for the Steve Tisch Company, where he produced such films as "Soul Man," "Bad Influence," and "Corrina, Corrina." He subsequently became senior vice president at Walt Disney Pictures, where he oversaw a large slate of movies, among them "Bicentennial Man."
Goldmann was until recently president of Village Roadshow Pictures, which produced such movies as "The Matrix," "Analyze This," "Three Kings," "Miss Congeniality," "Practical Magic," "Saving Silverman," "Down To Earth," "Cats and Dogs," "Ocean's Eleven," and "Training Day," for which Denzel Washington won the 2002 Academy Award for best performance by an actor. Goldmann has just returned to producing, making the new "Looney Tunes" movie for Warner Bros.
A Mineo's Pizza fan, Goldmann has been known to ship the Pittsburgh-made pizza back to L.A. to satisfy his hunger for his favorite hometown fare.
