Rite Aid Funds Pitt School of Pharmacy Laboratory Renovation
PITTSBURGH—Rite Aid Corporation recently donated $100,000 to the University of Pittsburgh's School of Pharmacy to support the renovation of the Rite Aid Edward C. Reif Memorial Laboratory in Salk Hall. The gift was used to remodel existing laboratory bench space, build a computer work area, and add three patient counseling rooms.
Among those taking part in the lab dedication were School of Pharmacy Dean Randy Juhl and Rite Aid representatives Marv Richardson, senior vice president for operations; Jack Mullen, regional vice president; Sherry McQuiston, pharmacy development manager; and Michele Belsey, director of college and professional recruitment.
Michael Zemaitis, associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences, worked with architects on the project, and stated that the latest changes make the remodeled areas "more in line with modern pharmacy work areas."
Rite Aid, which is headquartered in Camp Hill, Pa., hosted a luncheon for all students, faculty, and staff during the dedication of the renovated laboratory. Richardson gave a talk titled "The Future of Community Pharmacy."
