During this time-2000 to 2001-he also held a position within the Federal Ministry of the Interior, coordinating a project on a new federal data protection law.

Gill has published numerous articles on data protection in Germany and the former East Germany Secret Police as well as the book "The Secret Police of the Former East Germany-Anatomy of the Mielke-Empire."

The free public event is made possible through the support of the Pittsburgh Eric M. Warburg Chapter of the American Council on Germany.
