Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, UPMC Leaders to Discuss "Eds-Meds" Role in Transforming Pittsburgh's Economy at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 21
PITTSBURGH-Media representatives and members of the G-20 summit delegation are invited to attend a presentation by Carnegie Mellon University President Jared L. Cohon, University of Pittsburgh Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg, and UPMC President and CEO Jeffrey A. Romoff discussing how "eds-meds" is helping to transform Pittsburgh's economy. The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 21 in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, 4141 Fifth Ave., Oakland. Newsweek Senior Editor Howard Fineman will moderate the discussion.
Prior to the eds-meds discussion, there will be presentations and tabletop demonstrations-as well as several robots-by approximately 20 companies that have been spun off from the technologies developed by the three institutions. This event will be held in Soldiers and Sailors' Ballroom beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Following the 10:30 a.m. discussion, there will be cutting-edge technology and research tours hosted by Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, and UPMC, beginning at noon, 2, and 4 p.m. To register for the tours, visit www.edsmedspittsburgh.org. Transportation to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall from Downtown will available to the media. Buses will depart Downtown at 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. from the Liberty Avenue side of the Hilton Pittsburgh (600 Commonwealth St.), near Point State Park.
