Pitt Names New Senior Director of Undergraduate Studies

PITTSBURGH-Judith D. McConnaha, director of development in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, has been named senior director of undergraduate studies in Pitt's School of Arts and Sciences. She began in her new position Sept. 17.

In her new role, McConnaha will work closely with Pitt Associate Dean Juan Manfredi to oversee the day-to-day operations of the administrative departments in Undergraduate Studies, including the Office of Student Records, the Advising Center, the Office of Experiential Learning, the Academic Resource Center, and the Office of Freshman Programs.

McConnaha came to Pitt in 2003 after serving as assistant director of development at COSI Toledo, a hands-on science museum in Toledo, Ohio. Prior to working at the museum, McConnaha was an instructor and academic advisor of University Seminar and Advising in the Office of Student Affairs at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. She has served as coordinator of International Educational Field Experiences at the University of Iowa in Cedar Falls and as school-to-work and public relations coordinator at Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City, Ariz.

Her other positions include serving as marketing specialist in the Louisiana State Office of Tourism in Baton Rouge, assistant curator of education at Lincoln Park Zoological Gardens in Chicago, head of the Division of Family and Adult Programs at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, education and events coordinator at Powell Gardens in Kingsville, Mo., and instructional coordinator for adult programs at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis.

McConnaha earned the Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture and the Bachelor of Arts degree in English at Ohio State University and the Master of Public Policy degree at the University of Northern Iowa.
