Pitt Issues Traffic Alert for Aug. 22-25: Lothrop Street, University Drive B, Part of Bigelow Boulevard to Be Closed

PITTSBURGH-The following traffic advisory is being issued by the University of Pittsburgh Department of Parking and Transportation, given the expected influx of Pitt students returning Aug. 22-25 to the Pittsburgh campus residence halls.

Wednesday-Saturday, Aug. 22-25

Bigelow Boulevard between Fifth and Forbes avenues will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, and Friday, Aug. 23-24.

Lothrop Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 22-24, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug 25. (Port Authority Route 54C will not be picking up riders at the Carnegie Museum bus stop on Forbes Avenue when Bigelow Boulevard is closed.)

On Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 22-24, traffic on Allequippa Street is expected to be heavier than normal because of the greater number of students moving into upper campus housing. Pitt police officers will be stationed at Allequippa Street and University Drive to assist in traffic control.

On Wednesday through Friday, Aug 22-24, University Drive B (from Allequippa Street to University Drive) will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.__ On Thursday, Aug. 23, heavier traffic is expected on streets near the University as a result of Freshman Convocation, to be held at 3 p.m. in the Petersen Events Center. Pitt police officers will be stationed at key intersections to assist in traffic control.

Schenley Quad

Schenley Quad, accessible from Fifth Avenue, will be closed to all vehicles from Saturday, Aug. 18, through Sunday, Aug. 26.
