Pitt to Present "Day of Dance" High School Dance Convention April 8
PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh Department of Health and Physical Activity in conjunction with Pitt's Community Leisure-Learn Program and Dance Ensemble will host "Day of Dance," a one-day dance convention for high school students, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 8 in Trees Hall, Allequippa and Darraugh streets, Oakland.
Taught by invited local dance professionals from such companies as Dance Alloy, Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, and Zafira Dance Company, the convention will allow students to take classes in several styles of dance: from contemporary to capoeira, ballet to belly-dance, and African to Latin. The event, open to beginning, intermediate, and advanced dance students, will culminate with an informal dance concert that evening.
This is the first time the University has hosted a dance convention for high school dance students.
Cost is $35 and includes lunch at Pitt's Petersen Events Center. Registration is limited to the first 100 applicants. Interested students are encouraged to register by April 3 by calling 412-648-8262. If space is available, registrations will be accepted on-site the day of the convention, beginning at 8 a.m.
