Pitt's Indian Nationality Room Committee to Host Aug. 14 Festival in Honor of India's 58th Independence Day
PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh Indian Nationality Room Committee and Indian Student Association will host a free public festival from noon to 4 p.m. Aug.14 in the Cathedral of Learning Commons Room to celebrate India's 58th Independence Day.
Manu Narayan from Broadway's Bombay Dreams will be the featured guest. Festivities will include Indian music, regional Indian foods, performances by children trained in classical Indian and folk dancing, henna painting of hands, and a marketplace where visitors can purchase clothing, music tapes, flags, costume jewelry, enamel boxes, and other artifacts.
