PITTSBURGHUPMC MyHealth@Work, an on-site health and wellness center designed to treat a variety of health issues for University of Pittsburgh faculty and staff, will officially open April 28 on Fifth Avenue in Oakland.

The center, one of the first of its kind on a college campus in Western Pennsylvania, will offer its services at no cost to Pitt’s more than 12,000 faculty and staff. The on-site health and wellness center will be staffed by a group of highly trained UPMC providers, including a certified registered nurse practitioner, a registered nurse, and a medical assistant with oversight from a practicing physician.

Pitt’s faculty and staff will be able to use the center for common conditions such as allergies, coughs and colds, blood-pressure screenings, fevers, minor cuts, rashes, and vaccinations and to access health and wellness resources to help them lead healthier lives. No appointments are needed to use the center, which will be open Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The MyHealth@Work center offers Pitt faculty and staff exclusive access to convenient, confidential, quality care on campus. Providing this new level of workplace care, will help facilitate faculty and staff wellness.

UPMC MyHealth@Work health care professionals can support and coordinate the care a patient may already have in place with a doctor. If medications are recommended, they can be electronically prescribed to a patient’s preferred pharmacy. In addition, UPMC MyHealth@Work, in collaboration with Pitt, will be developing an array of services to support wellness, in areas including pharmacy, nutrition, and physical activity.

“The MyHealth@Work wellness center is a great addition to the University of Pittsburgh,” said David Weir, president of UPMC WorkPartners, which oversees the MyHealth@Work program. “The center brings quality medical services to the campus and provides easy and convenient access for faculty and staff.

“The faculty and staff will love it because they will not only receive quality medical care from UPMC but also have the opportunity to discuss broader health issues, receive educational materials, and gain a better understanding of the numerous support services available through the University’s program.”

The UPMC MyHealth@Work center is located in the heart of Pitt’s Oakland campus in suite 505 on the fifth floor of the Medical Arts Building, 3708 Fifth Ave.
