PITTSBURGH, June 1 -- The University of Pittsburgh College of General Studies will launch this September a noncredit certificate program in electronic commerce, aimed at equipping the business manager or executive with the knowledge and skills necessary to plan, implement, and manage the use of the Internet to transact business.

A free information session, for those who want to know more about the Certificate in E-Commerce Management, will be held on Wednesday, June 6, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., at Pitt's Computer Learning Center, 100 Forbes Avenue, downtown. This session will explain how e-commerce is changing the way business operates, allow potential students to learn more about the program's content and fees, and provide an opportunity to talk with one of the instructors. Call

412-281-7488 to register.

The Certificate in E-Commerce Management is a part-time

six-course program, with four core courses and two electives. Expected to take seven months to complete, it will cover e-commerce applications, technology, strategic planning, security, privacy, and fraud protection. The elective courses may reflect a student's own interest, such as e-commerce and customer relations. More information is available on the Internet at http://www.clc.pitt.edu, or in a brochure, available by calling 412-281-7488.
