University of Pittsburgh to Host Global Academic Partnership Workshop, "Research in Sustainable Community Development"
PITTSBURGH-Pitt's Center for Latin American Studies and Mascaro Sustainability Initiative will present a Global Academic Partnership workshop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 13 and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 14 in the Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 300 Technology Dr., Oakland. At the workshop, titled "Research in Sustainable Community Development," international researchers and practitioners in sustainable development and green design will discuss a series of issues related to urbanization and air quality, greening an existing environment, and water quality and water management. Gilberto Januzzi, dean of the graduate program in energy planning and executive director of the International Energy Initiative at the Universidad de Campinas, Brazil, will give the keynote address at 9 a.m. Friday, April 13. Other speakers include sustainability experts from Pitt, Carnegie Mellon University, Universidad de Campinas, and the University of Puetro Rico, Mayagüez.
The event is also sponsored by Pitt's Global Studies Program, University Center for International Studies, and Office of the Provost.
