MUSIC 

1/13             Pitt’s Center for American Music commemorates Stephen Foster Day at 10 a.m., Temple of Memories Mausoleum, Allegheny Cemetery, 4734 Butler St., Lawrenceville. Children from Immaculate Conception School will sing Foster songs and guest speakers will deliver remarks on the significance of America’s first professional songwriter. Jan. 13 is the 147th anniversary of the composer’s death. For more information, call 412-624-4100. 

1/14             The Emerging Legend Series presents the Squirrel Hillbillies playing acoustic folk, country, and blues music at noon, Cup & Chaucer Café, ground floor, Hillman Library, 3960 Forbes Ave., Oakland. EXHIBITION

1/12-1/28    Pitt’s Department of Studio Arts presents the Studio Arts Wyoming Field Study Exhibition, featuring the works of four studio arts majors who studied at Pitt’s Wyoming ranch, which is rich in dinosaur fossils, University Art Gallery, Frick Fine Arts Building, 650 Schenley Dr., Oakland. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  Monday through Friday; an opening reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 12. For more information, call 412-648-2430.
