Social Movements Scholar Hank Johnston to Speak at Pitt on "Deep Grievances and Islamic Mobilization"

PITTSBURGH—Hank Johnston, assistant professor of sociology at San Diego State University, will deliver a lecture titled "Deep Grievances and Islamic Mobilization" from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. March 31 in Room 2341 of Pitt's Wesley W. Posvar Hall, 230 S. Bouquet St., Oakland. His talk is free and open to the public.

Johnston is the founder and editor of Mobilization: An International Journal, the author of Tales of Nationalism (Rutgers University Press, 1991), and the coeditor of Frames of Protest (Rowman & Littlefield, 2005).

His lecture is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Social Movement Forum and cosponsored by Pitt's Center for Russian and East European Studies, and the departments of sociology, religious studies, and anthropology. For more information, call 412-648-7590.
