PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh's internationally renowned Kuntu Repertory Theatre will present staged readings of Vou-Dou MacBeth from 6 to 9 p.m., today and tomorrow, September 13 and 14, at the Manchester Craftsman's Guild on the North Side.

Kuntu is working with The National Spirit Project (Spirit) of New Orleans in a multi-year collaboration designed to explore the process of cocreation between artists and diverse communities. The interdisciplinary arts project began in March 2000 and is being developed through a series of multiday residencies and related activities in participating communities across the country between 2000 and 2002.

Vou-Dou MacBeth, by Lenwood Sloan, is based upon a Depression-era Federal Theater Project production directed by Orson Welles in 1936. Sloan is a Pittsburgh native who graduated from Westinghouse High School.
