PITTSBURGH, March 19 -- The Pitt Engineering Impact Program, sponsored by the School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, will conduct its annual Summer Food Service Program for Children, June 22 through August 3, 2001. Students, age 18 and younger, who have been admitted to the Impact Summer Program and who fall at or below the following Family Size/Annual Income Guidelines, are eligible for breakfast, lunch, and dinner through the Summer Food Program.

Food services will use the Towers Cafeteria, 3995 Forbes Avenue. This cafeteria is operated in accordance with the Affirmative Action policies of the US Department of Agriculture and the University of Pittsburgh.

The six-week Impact Program was developed by Pitt and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to encourage minority and financially and culturally disadvantaged students to enter and graduate from engineering programs. Impact prepares incoming freshmen through exposure to university academic life, development of study skills, academic and career counseling, and coursework to reinforce strengths or remedy weaknesses.
