Pitt’s Honors College to Present “The News: Who’s Going to Pay for This?”
PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh Honors College will present a panel discussion titled “The News: Who’s Going to Pay for This?” at 7:30 p.m. March 24 in the University Club, 123 University Place, Oakland.
The panel will feature Stephen Engelberg, managing editor of ProPublica, a Pulitzer Prize-winning nonprofit news organization that has produced investigative journalism since its inception in 2008; Mary Leonard, deputy managing editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, who supervises digital media, including post-gazette.com, PG+, and mobile sites; Andrew Pergam, editorial director of J-Lab: The Institute for Interactive Journalism, considered to be the nation’s most successful incubator for news entrepreneurs; and Evan Smith, CEO and editor-in-chief of The Texas Tribune, a nonprofit online media organization founded in 2009 that won two national awards in its first year in operation. David Shribman, executive editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will moderate.
