PITTSBURGH-True to its ethnic Pittsburgh heritage, the University of Pittsburgh Nationality Rooms Program will welcome 60 international children at 1 p.m. July 16 with a tour of the 27 Nationality Rooms and a reception at 2:30 p.m., featuring an international cookie table in the Cathedral of Learning Commons Room, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland. Following the reception, visitors will have the opportunity to examine textiles and artifacts from Pitt's rarely shown National Dress and Textile collection.

The Nationality Room committee chairs, some of whom represent the visiting 11-year-old children's native countries, will provide the tasty ethnic treats. The participating committee bakers and their cultures are Eva Robinson, Denmark; Christel Van Maurik, Germany; Saroj Bahl, India; Dewi Wong, Indonesia; Susan Olafson, Norway; Teodora Schipper, the Philippines; and Eugene Khorey, Syria-Lebanon.

Each year, the Children's International Summer Village brings children from many nations to live in an American city for one month. Pittsburgh is the chosen city this year. The children are from Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Norway, and the Philippines.
