PITT MUSIC FACULTY MEMBER WINS ASCAP AWARD

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 17 -- Eric Moe, University of Pittsburgh associate professor of music, has won a 1998-99 cash award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), for his newest original compositions. It is the 11th consecutive year Moe has won an ASCAP award.

Moe's scores and list of recent performances were reviewed by a panel of judges that included Fred Sherry, world-renowned cellist and member of the Chamber Music Society; Jo Ann Falletta, Music Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic, Long Beach Symphony and Virginia Symphony Orchestras; Tim Page, classical music critic for The Washington Post, and others.

Moe is director of composition and theory in Pitt's Music Department.
