PITTSBURGH—Lynnett Van Slyke, director of Disability Resources and Services at the University of Pittsburgh, has been appointed to the Allegheny County Drug and Alcohol Planning Council.

The 15-member council assists County administrators with the planning, develop-ment, implementation, and evaluation of services for County residents who have drug addiction problems.

Prior to that, she was a learning-disability specialist at Pitt, developing comprehensive learning plans for those students and monitoring their progress. She also has experience in personal and group counseling and providing education to professionals who work with drug- or alcohol-addicted students.

Van Slyke has the Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology, the Master of Science degree in student personnel administration, the Master of Education degree in rehabilita-tion counseling, and the Certificate in Postsecondary Services for students with disabilities. She is president of the Consortium on Higher Education and Disability and serves on a number of committees and advisory boards. Her position with the Drug and Alcohol Planning Council is a three-year appointment.
