The University of Pittsburgh has appointed H. Richard Milner IV as the Dr. Helen S. Faison Chair in Urban Education, professor of education, and director of Pitt’s Center for Urban Education.

Noteworthy: The University of Pittsburgh has named Milner as the Dr. Helen Faison Chair in Urban Education and director of its Center for Urban Education.

Age: 39

Residence: Nashville, Tenn.; looking to move to Pittsburgh this summer.

Family: Wife, Shelley Banks Milner, and 2-year-old twin daughters, Anna and Elise.

Occupation: Associate professor of education and founding director of the Learning, Diversity and Urban Studies Program in Vanderbilt University's Peabody College of Education and Human Development.

Background: Milner is a policy fellow of the National Education Policy Center, editor-in-chief of Urban Education, a journal on metropolitan issues across the globe, and a member of the editorial board of Educational Researcher.

Education: Master's degrees in educational policy and leadership from Ohio State University and in English education and English from South Carolina State University; doctorate in educational policy and leadership from Ohio State.
