PITTSBURGH, Sept. 28 -- As part of its emphasis on providing a safe and healthy environment for its students, the University of Pittsburgh has scheduled an on-campus meningitis immunization clinic for Thursday,

October 5, from 1 to 7 p.m., in the William Pitt Union. The clinic will be operated by Vaccess Health, of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, and, for those students who choose to participate, the cost of each vaccination will be $75.00.

Pitt will also continue to offer meningitis vaccinations, at cost, to students on an ongoing basis through the University's Student Health Service.

The meningitis vaccination opportunities are being offered in response to recommendations from the Federal Centers for Disease Control and the American College Health Associations that providers of medical care to college students who live in housing with multiple individuals should inform the students about the benefits of vaccination.
