Dr. David A. Lewis has been elected president of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology to honor his contributions to the field of psychiatry.
Lewis chairs the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh and directs the university’s Translational Neuroscience Program and the National Institute of Mental Health-sponsored Conte Center for the Neuroscience of Mental Disorders, which focuses on understanding the role of prefrontal cortical dysfunction in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. He is also a member of the Institute of Medicine and National Advisory Mental Health Council, and he has been a consultant to numerous governmental committees and initiatives.
ACNP promotes communication among a range of scientific disciplines of brain and behavior to increase the understanding of the causes of disorders of the nervous system. ACNP is based in Brentwood, Tenn.
