4,500 Pitt Students Sign Up to Volunteer for “Pitt Make A Difference Day” Oct. 26

PITTSBURGH—More than 4,500 Pitt students have signed up to volunteer at nonprofit and service agencies across the county as part of the University of Pittsburgh’s “Pitt Make A Difference Day” on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The total of 4,500 volunteers is the largest number of students to sign up in the six-year history of Pitt Make A Difference Day, a project organized by students with support from Pitt’s Office of Student Affairs. Students will volunteer at two on-campus projects as well as 81 off-campus projects, including 48 in the City of Pittsburgh and others as far away as McKeesport, Verona, and Moon Township. More than 70 buses will leave the William Pitt Union at 9 a.m. to transport the students to their volunteer sites and will return to campus by 2 p.m. 

A sampling of the projects and contact information for site coordinators follows.

  • Creating holiday decorations and repacking toiletries and food products for clients of Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh at 212 9th Street, Downtown. Contact Bonnie Rolison at 412-867-6278.
