More than 4,000 Pitt Students Volunteer Across Allegheny County in Pitt Make A Difference Day

PITTSBURGH—From gardening and litter clean-up to creating holiday decorations and painting, more than 4,000 University of Pittsburgh students will donate their time at 66 locations across Allegheny County on Saturday, Oct. 20 for Pitt Make a Difference Day.

Students will depart from the William Pitt Union beginning at 10 a.m. and will travel to their destinations—some as far away as West Homestead and Heidelberg—for hours of assisting nonprofit and community groups. 

The Pitt Student Government Board created Pitt Make a Difference Day with support from the University’s Division of Student Affairs. Partnering groups, including Dunkin Donuts, Pamela’s, and Eat & Park Hospitality Group, will provide refreshments for the volunteers. Students volunteering that day will receive community service credit toward their Outside the Classroom Curriculum transcript.
